John Bennett and Louvinia Flowers

John Bennett Flowers, son of John C. and Mary E. Thweatt Flowers, was born October 28, 1854.  His wife, Louisa Louvinia McGinnis, daughter of Daniel Rufus and Mary E. Lewis Williamson McGinnis, was born August 16, 1858.  They both came to Texas as  teenagers with their families in the Brinker-McGinnis-Williamson-Flowers wagon train shortly after the Civil War.  They were married September 14, 1879, in Hopkins County.  John died December 8, 1893, and Vin died January 10, 1938.  This picture shows them with their two sons, Charlie Garrett and Carey Bennett.  They also had two daughters, Callie and Lillie.  Callie, born January 25, 1880, married Joshua Edwin (Bud) Brinker, and she died in childbirth March 3, 1901.  Bud later married her sister Lillie.  Lillie was born August 25, 1890, and died January 20, 1971.  Bud Brinker, born January 25, 1880, died November 24, 1942.
